7. Visibility
Planes are visible to ground targets (and vise versa) based on their flight band and intervening obstructions.
- Planes in the Low Band can be seen at ten hexes plus the plane's level.
- Planes in the Middle Band can be seen at twenty hexes plus the plane's level.
- Planes in the High Band can be seen from anywhere on the table.
(Example - a plane at Low 4 can be seen from 14 hexes away - a plane at Middle 1 can be seen from 21 hexes.)
Obstructions that block visibility:
- Trees (1" or more), low structures (1" or less) and all explosion and smoke markers block visibility in the low band.
- Buildings over one inch and red or black explosion/smoke markers block visibility in both low and middle band.
- Black smoke blocks visibility in all bands.
AA batteries on low structures can have visibility blocked by smoke or tall structures. Otherwise they have unlimited visibility.
Visibility is considered blocked if a straight line from the center of the firing hex to the center of the target hex passes through an obstruction or the hex an obstruction is in.
