8. Air to Air Combat

All planes have a maximum range of ten (10) hexes or levels.

Each level of altitude is considered one hex for distance.

Guns on the B-24s are noted as to level as well as direction.

  • If labeled "all" they may fire at targets above, below, or at the same level as the bomber.
  • If labeled "low" they may only fire at targets that are at a lower altitude.
  • If labeled "high" they may only fire at targets at a greater altitude or four or more hexes away

A target must be in sight to be fired at - See visibility.

If a crew member assigned to a particular gun is killed he may be replaced by another crew member. Mark the number of the replacement crew on the plane data sheet and any hits taken at that position will effect the replacement crew. Hits at an unoccupied position have no effect.

Fighters may fire at any target within its firing arc and range regardless of level.

Fighters do take the size modifier of the bomber into account.
