14. Bombing Run
1. Bombs will hit a target based on the direction the plane is flying and the band it is in. They will fall in the direction the plane is facing.
a. Bombs released from the low band land in the same hex as the bomber.
b. Bombs released from the middle band land one hex forward of the bomber.
c. Bombs released from the high band land two hexes forward of the bomber.2. Many targets cover more than one hex. Any hex that is half or more covered by the target model is considered the target. If bomb hits then entire target (model) is removed as destroyed.
3. At the end of the firing portion of the turn bombers may release their bombs. When bombs are dropped roll 1d10 with the following modifiers. Modifiers are cumulative.
- Plane did not fly straight and level the turn bombs dropped: - 5
- Plane took damage from collision with a structure this turn - 4
- Bombardier killed: - 3
- Target has a blast wall: - 2
- Bomb dropper fired guns this turn: - 2
- Plane in high band: - 2
- Plane in middle band: -1
- Bombardier wounded - 1
4.Any roll of more than two is a hit. Target explodes. Remove the target model and replace with a yellow explosion marker. If the bomber is in the low band roll for damage to plane as if it flew through the explosion (TABLE 15).
If there is no hit the bombs are assumed to have hit an unimportant target or have not exploded.
